About the resort
๐๏ธ History
Part of the Dolomiti Superski macro-domain, the Alpe Lusia / San Pellegrino area stretches between Val di Fassa (Trentino) and Falcade (Veneto). Historically, this area was deeply marked by the First World War. Today, it is valued as a quieter destination oriented towards pure skiing, away from the hustle and bustle of the more central sectors like the Sellaronda.
โ๏ธ Best days
Clear days following a southern snowfall (Stau). Thanks to its specific high-altitude topography (base at 1,918 m), the San Pellegrino Pass traps snowfalls coming from the south exceptionally well. The views from Col Margherita toward the Pale di San Martino mountain range are breathtaking under the morning sun.
๐ซ Days to avoid
Long dry spells in December or January. Unlike the larger Dolomiti Superski resorts, some of the lower, south-facing areas down towards Falcade can suffer if the winter is warm and dry, although artificial snowmaking generally keeps the main runs open.
๐ก Community tip
The "Volata" run descending from Col Margherita is one of the most thrilling and demanding black runs in the Dolomites, frequently hosting international competitions. If you love traditional food, stop at any of the picturesque mountain huts on the Alpe Lusia side to try authentic "canederli" or "casunziei."

Direct transfer available๐ Main access: The Alpe Lusia - San Pellegrino ski area spans between Moena (Val di Fassa, Trentino) and Falcade (Belluno). If heading to Moena, take the A22 (Brenner) autobahn and exit at "Egna/Ora" (Neumarkt/Auer). Follow the SS48 (Dolomite Road) past Cavalese and Predazzo until you reach Moena (about 50 km from the exit). If your base is Falcade, it's faster to approach from the south via the A27 (exit Belluno) and drive up the Agordino valley.
โ ๏ธ Winter driving: The SS48 to Moena is well maintained and avoids steep passes. However, if you plan to drive between Moena and Falcade, you must cross the steep San Pellegrino Pass (1,918 m). In winter, this pass is often heavily snow-covered, making winter tires or snow chains absolutely mandatory and vital.
Local Tips
๐ก The B123 Skibus line: To move between the ski areas, the Skibus is vital! The public bus line B123 connects Moena, crosses the San Pellegrino pass, and reaches Falcade. Using this bus saves you the stress of driving the steep, snowy pass yourself. A small fee or weekly skibus ticket is usually required.
