About the resort
🏔️ History
Nestled in the heart of the Dolomites (Veneto region) with deep Ladin cultural roots, the Arabba and Marmolada area was a fierce frontline during WWI (commemorated by the Great War Ski Tour). Today, it is a haven for demanding skiers within the Dolomiti Superski network.
☀️ Best days
Mid-to-late January and March. Snow conditions are reliably excellent, and the famous interconnected circuits are much less crowded.
🚫 Days to avoid
Weekends and peak school holiday weeks. The Sella Ronda circuit can become very congested, and the Marmolada cable cars are notorious for long queues during these times.
💡 Community tip
A true "skier's resort" focusing on performance over nightlife, it boasts the challenging steeps of Porta Vescovo. If you tackle Punta Rocca (Marmolada, 3,342m), do it first thing in the morning—the spectacular 12km "Bellunese" run is best enjoyed with fresh legs and zero crowds.

🚗 Main access: Arabba sits at a high-alpine junction right on the famous Sella Ronda. The best route depends on your origin. From the south (Venice/Plains), take the A27 to Belluno, then drive up through Agordo to Alleghe and finally Arabba or Malga Ciapela (Marmolada base). From the north (Innsbruck) or west (Verona), take the A22 (Brenner autobahn) and either exit at "Egna/Ora" (driving up Val di Fiemme/Fassa and crossing the Pordoi Pass) or exit at "Chiusa/Val Gardena" (crossing the Gardena and Campolongo passes).
⚠️ Extreme winter driving: Driving to Arabba in winter is not for drivers inexperienced in snow. You are forced to cross at least one high alpine pass (Pordoi, Campolongo, or Fedaia) to enter the valley from almost any direction (unless driving the long gorge from Belluno/Caprile). High-quality winter tires and snow chains are absolutely mandatory by law and frequently necessary in practice.

💡 The hub of the Sella Ronda: Arabba boasts an unbeatable strategic location. You are connected by lifts not only to the circular Sella Ronda (Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Val di Fassa) but also directly to the Marmolada glacier cable car, the highest point in the Dolomites. You won't need a single local bus to ski across all these valleys.
