About the resort

🏔️ History
Founded in 1976 in the heart of the Aragon Valley (Aragonese Pyrenees), Astún is the neighbor and great rival of Candanchú. It was designed as a modern, mid-sized resort set within a massive natural "bowl", meaning almost all runs naturally funnel back down to a single central base area.

☀️ Best days
Late January and February. Its unique funnel-like topography partially protects it from strong winds and helps preserve cold, powdery snow on its north-facing slopes during the peak of winter.

🚫 Days to avoid
Sunny Saturdays in February. Because the parking and base area all converge in one very tight spot, the access road from Jaca can collapse quickly, and the resort reaches maximum capacity early in the day.

💡 Community tip
Astún is a hidden gem for fun, accessible freeride. The entire resort is essentially a giant bowl without massive cliff drops, making it incredibly safe and enjoyable to pop off-piste between the marked runs. Also, they recently launched a joint "100K" pass linking it by bus to neighboring Candanchú, offering a combined 100 km of skiing.
