🏔️ History
Aramón Cerler, located in the Benasque Valley (Huesca), is the highest alpine ski resort in the Aragonese Pyrenees. Surrounded by the most imposing mountains in the range, including the highest peak, Aneto (3,404m), this resort has managed to preserve the traditional charm of its slate-and-stone Pyrenean villages while thoroughly modernizing its lift system. Historically, it has repeatedly won awards for being the best ski resort in Spain due to its massive vertical drop and dramatic scenery.

☀️ Best days
Clear days in March following heavy snowfalls. The resort is famous for boasting some of the longest continuous descents on the Iberian Peninsula (including a 9km run from peak to base). The slopes weave through beautiful black pine forests and offer a breathtaking, rugged alpine backdrop. Cerler's high peaks (like Gallinero at 2,630m) guarantee excellent dry powder that holds up beautifully against the sun.

🚫 Days to avoid
Days with severe wind. Its high altitude and exposed position facing the 3,000m giants of the Pyrenees make it extremely vulnerable to fierce northern gusts. When this happens, the crucial upper-mountain chairlifts (Gallinero and Cogulla) are forced to close, heavily restricting skiing to the lower runs, which subsequently become overcrowded and chopped up very quickly.

💡 Community tip
If you are a confident skier, your main target should be the Gallinero chairlift: the red and black pistes descending from this peak (like Canal de Gallinero) are arguably the finest in the Pyrenees. Also, explore the newly opened Castanesa sector, which often hides untracked snow. Culinarily, a mandatory pit stop is the Colladeta restaurant—order an authentic local Benasque Valley beef burger while taking in the unforgettable panoramic views.
