Cerro Bayo

🏔️ History
Cerro Bayo is the boutique ski resort of Villa La Angostura, Neuquén. Opened in the 1970s and renovated several times, it has earned its reputation as the quintessential family resort in Argentine Patagonia. Its runs descend with Lago Nahuel Huapi as a backdrop, offering one of the most breathtaking panoramas in the Patagonian Andes. With 31 runs and 11 lifts, it is small but extraordinarily scenic.

☀️ Best days
Midweek days in July and August with blue skies over Nahuel Huapi are magical. The 5 km "Camino Panorámico" forest traverse is at its best in August when snow has settled for weeks. Access from Villa La Angostura (9 km) is quick with no congestion on weekdays.

🚫 Days to avoid
Winter holiday weekends in July bring day-trippers from Bariloche (80 km), overwhelming the small car park and creating unusual queues. Rainy days at the base usually mean heavy snow at altitude.

💡 Community tip
Villa La Angostura is one of Patagonia's prettiest villages — a week here combines quality skiing, gourmet dining and uncrowded nature. Lift passes are significantly cheaper than Bariloche/Catedral. The ski school and children's snow garden have an excellent reputation.
