About the resort
🏔️ History
Breuil-Cervinia was born in the 1930s at the foot of the Matterhorn (4,478 m) in the Aosta Valley, with its first cable car in 1936. Renamed in 1939, it now forms the Cervino Ski Paradise with Zermatt: over 350 km of runs between Italy and Switzerland.

Mid-January through early March: excellent snow, long daylight hours and fewer crowds on the slopes.

Christmas, New Year's, and Italian February school holidays. The glacier sector can close in high winds.

Explore the quieter, more authentic Valtournenche sector and book at Ristorante Bontadini, far more intimate than the central options. If you ski to Zermatt, carefully check the last lift times to return.

🚗 Main access: Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche are located in the Aosta Valley in northwestern Italy. The fastest way to arrive is via the A5 autobahn (connecting Turin to the Mont Blanc Tunnel). Exit the highway at the "Châtillon/Saint-Vincent" toll booth. From there, take the SR46 regional road, which winds up the valley for about 27 km until you reach Cervinia at 2,050 meters of altitude.
⚠️ Winter driving: The ascent from Châtillon is a classic, steep mountain road that gains a lot of elevation (climbing from 500m to over 2000m). While usually well-plowed, it is absolutely mandatory by Italian law to have winter tires or carry snow chains between November and April. During active snowfall, chains may be essential for traction on the final steep switchbacks.

💡 "VDA Transports" App & Swiss connection: We recommend downloading the Arriva app (VDA Transports) to check real-time schedules and buy bus tickets. Also remember that with the international ski pass, you can ski across the border into Zermatt (Switzerland)—but make absolutely sure you don't miss the last lift back to Italy, or you'll face a 5-hour taxi ride home!
