About the resort
🏔️ History
Opened in 1972, Copper Mountain is highly regarded for its intelligently designed ski terrain, which geologists laid out to follow the mountain's natural topography. The runs are naturally segregated: easy beginner terrain lies to the west, intermediate cruisers sit in the center, and steep advanced slopes are located to the east, keeping skiers of different abilities separated.
☀️ Best days
Tuesdays and Wednesdays deliver excellent conditions, empty groomers, and fast lift access. January and February are the peak months for tracking fresh snow in the high-alpine back bowls.
🚫 Days to avoid
High-season weekends, when day-tripper traffic on the I-70 highway reaches its peak and the free base parking lots fill up very early in the morning.
💡 Community tip
Park for free in the Alpine or Far East lots and ride the fast transit shuttle to the base. Advanced skiers should head to the Resolution Chair, which services some of the best bumps and steep glades on the mountain.

No direct transfer🚗 Direct highway access: Copper Mountain is uniquely easy to access, located immediately off I-70 at Exit 195. It requires no secondary mountain highway driving. However, it is fully subject to the standard I-70 weekend traffic bottlenecks.
Local Tips
💡 Match your parking to your skill: park closest to your preferred ski terrain: West Village is best for beginners and families; Center is intermediate; and East Village is closest to steep, advanced terrain (Resolution chair).
