Farellones

🏔️ History
Farellones is Chile's most accessible mountain village and ski resort, at 2,350 m altitude just 46 km from Santiago. It is Chile's first ski resort, founded in 1932, and one of the oldest in South America. The small alpine village at the base of the slopes has long been the winter holiday destination for Santiago families. It shares the ridge with El Colorado and together they form the most visited ski complex in the country. Farellones is known for its relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with gentle terrain ideal for beginners.

☀️ Best days
July and August bring the best snowfall. Weekday sunny days are the favourite for families: uncongested slopes and spectacular views of the capital. The north-facing lower pistes enjoy good morning sun, perfect for young children.

🚫 Days to avoid
Weekends are extremely busy, especially in July. The G-21 road can be gridlocked from 9am. On rainy or low-snow days, the lower pistes can be in poor condition.

💡 Community tip
Farellones is the ideal starting point for families with children learning to ski. The combined pass with El Colorado grants access to a much larger domain. Going very early (before 8:00) or mid-morning avoids the worst traffic on the access road.
