About the resort
🏔️ History
Perched on a scenic karst plateau in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, Golte began its organized ski development in 1962. It has built a reputation as a peaceful mid-mountain hideaway, anchored by the modern ski-in/ski-out Hotel Montis (opened in 2010) and connected to the valley by the longest cable car in Slovenia.

Clear, cold winter days with good visibility. The resort rewards visitors with stunning panoramic views over the Savinja Valley. The red runs are fantastic for intermediate skiers seeking a quiet, uncrowded experience with open spaces.
🚫 Days to avoid
High wind or dense fog days, which can halt the main Žekovec cable car and ruin the mountain views. Also avoid the early or late season when natural snow cover is thin and rocks may appear on the lower trails.
💡 Community tip
Take the high-speed Žekovec cable car early to beat the morning rush. For a midday break, stop by the Medvedjak mountain restaurant on Saturdays to taste their famous "šmorn" (shredded pancake with fruit sauce) or a hearty alpine stew. Staying at Hotel Montis provides wellness access for post-ski relaxation.
