About the resort

🏔️ History
Once an agricultural and cross-border smuggling area, Ischgl joined forces with duty-free Samnaun in 1978 to create the modern Silvretta Arena. Today, it is famous for its high-tech lift system and legendary après-ski.

☀️ Best days
Late January to mid-March is ideal for guaranteed snow (90% of slopes are above 2,000m). Midweek days offer slightly fewer crowds.

🚫 Days to avoid
Christmas, New Year, Easter, and Carnival week. The red runs back down to the village become extremely crowded and icy late in the afternoon.

💡 Community tip
To avoid morning queues, take the Fimbabahn instead of the main Pardatschgratbahn. If you aren't an expert skier, download via the gondola at the end of the day to avoid the chaotic "Home Run".

🚗 Access by road: To reach Ischgl – Samnaun by car, follow the main highways leading from the closest gateway (Innsbruck Airport). The final mountain ascent is well maintained, but expect sharp hairpins and typical mountain gradients of Austria.

⚠️ Snow chains: During the winter months, carrying snow chains in your vehicle or fitting certified winter tires is a legal requirement on the roads of Austria.

Local Tips

💡 Local tip: Try to arrive before 8:30 AM on powder Saturdays to avoid traffic queues on the final valley roads and secure a parking spot closest to the primary lifts.
