About the resort

🏔️ History
La Parva is the most exclusive and technical resort in Chile's "Tres Valles" area, with a base at 2,653 m and summit at 3,574 m — nearly 1,000 m of vertical drop. Founded in the 1970s as a private club, it retains that selective character with a limited daily visitor quota ensuring uncrowded slopes. It shares the Andean massif with Valle Nevado and El Colorado, and a combined pass allows movement between all three resorts. It is the favourite destination of Chile's most experienced skiers for its snow quality and technical terrain.

☀️ Best days
July and August after recent snowfall are the golden days at La Parva. Its predominantly east and north-facing aspects preserve powder snow longer than other resorts in the area. The Portezuelo sector, with access to high-mountain terrain, offers unique freeride experiences in the days after a storm.

🚫 Days to avoid
Weekends, although La Parva limits capacity, can see car parks full before 9 AM. On strong south winds, the upper sectors close and cold can be extreme even with proper gear. Always check the weather bulletin before heading up.

💡 Community tip
La Parva is expert skier territory: most runs are red and black, with abundant off-piste terrain. The Tres Valles combined pass is the best option for exploring the whole area. The resort cabins are small and in high demand — booking well in advance is essential. The Roca Jack sector hides some of Chile's most coveted powder lines.

🚗 Driving from Santiago: La Parva is part of the famous Tres Valles domain and is the most exclusive resort of the three, offering unbeatable views looking right down into Santiago. It takes 1 to 1.5 hours (a mere 40km) to drive from the city. You will drive up the exact same infamous 40-switchback road (Route G-21) to Farellones village, and then continue up a short final climb to reach the La Parva resort village.

⚠️ One-Way Traffic and Chains: Just like El Colorado, the road is subject to heavily enforced one-way traffic schedules on weekends and holidays during winter months (typically morning uphill-only, late afternoon/evening downhill-only). Police (Carabineros) checkpoints at the bottom of the mountain will demand you carry snow chains, regardless of your vehicle. Always make sure you know how to fit them, as putting them on in a high-altitude blizzard is not fun.

Local Tips

💡 Explore Valle Nevado: Like its neighbor, La Parva is physically connected to Valle Nevado via the lifts. On a powder day, expert skiers will love taking the Las Aguilas chair to the summit and skiing La Parva's famous steep off-piste terrain. If you want to ski over into Valle Nevado from there, you will need to purchase the special combined "Tres Valles" dual ticket.
