About the resort
🏔️ History
Skiing in the Lake Louise area began in the 1920s with local enthusiasts and Swiss mountain guides exploring the passes. The first permanent lift was built in the 1950s on Temple Mountain. Located in the heart of Alberta's spectacular Banff National Park, Lake Louise is globally renowned for its awe-inspiring wilderness views and hosting the opening speed races of the FIS Alpine World Cup in North America.
☀️ Best days
Mid-week days in January and February offer cold temperatures but deliver dry, light snow and exceptional grooming. Sunny mornings are perfect for capturing the Victoria Glacier backdrop.
🚫 Days to avoid
Late November and early December weekends due to the World Cup races, which close down key front-side runs. Extremely cold days (below -25°C) require proper layering and gear checks.
💡 Community tip
The Larch area on the back side gets morning sun and offers excellent wind shelter. For lunch, visit the Cliffhouse Bistro at the top of the Grizzly Express Gondola for great food and panoramic valley views.
