🏔️ History
Located in the province of León, on the border with Asturias, Leitariegos (also known as Valle Laciana-Leitariegos) is a small, family-friendly resort nestled within a Biosphere Reserve. Its modest character has made it the perfect destination for taking your first steps on snow in the Cantabrian Mountains.

☀️ Best days
Cold winter weeks following heavy snowfalls from the northwest. Due to its moderate altitude, it requires a solid base layer. On cold, clear days, skiing surrounded by the spectacular deciduous forests of the Laciana valley is an intimate and beautiful experience.

🚫 Days to avoid
Late spring or periods with southern winds. The resort is vulnerable to temperature spikes, which quickly deteriorate snow quality at its lower elevations. Sunny Sundays also tend to get crowded with local families.

💡 Community tip
Leitariegos is arguably the best resort in the area to learn to ski from scratch, featuring highly protected and comfortable beginner zones. After a day of skiing, heading down to Villablino to enjoy the excellent traditional Leonese and Asturian cuisine is a must.
