About the resort
🏔️ History
A former logging and farming village that opened its first ski lift in 1936. Unlike purpose-built mega-resorts, Les Gets has jealously preserved its typical Savoyard architecture. It connects seamlessly with Morzine, sharing a highly accessible sector within the massive Portes du Soleil domain.
☀️ Best days
Mid-January to mid-March. Its beautiful tree-lined pistes are especially magical on fresh snow days, as the trees improve visibility and retain snow despite the resort's lower altitude (village at 1,172m).
🚫 Days to avoid
The February holidays can be very hectic, as its reputation as a "family paradise" draws huge crowds from France, Switzerland, and the UK.
💡 Community tip
Boasting the "Famille Plus" label, it's spectacular for kids and intermediate cruisers (don't miss the Mont Chéry area, which is usually quieter and offers stunning views of Mont Blanc). Because the village is low, in warmer seasons it's best to head up to higher altitudes early. The free road train crossing the village is incredibly handy.

🚗 Main access: Take the A40 motorway (the "Autoroute Blanche") and use exit 18 (Cluses). From there, follow the D902 road towards Taninges, then climb up to Les Gets. The drive from Cluses takes under half an hour, and the mountain road is wide and very accessible.
⚠️ Chains and traffic: Even though the road is relatively easy, winter tires or snow chains are legally required from November 1st to March 31st (Loi Montagne). Expect some traffic leaving the motorway at Cluses during peak holiday weekends.
Local Tips
💡 Free Shuttles & "Petit Train": The village of Les Gets is charming and highly walkable. It also features a great free shuttle bus network connecting the hamlets to the center. Don't miss the "Petit Train" (free tourist train) which shuttles skiers comfortably across the village.
