About the resort

๐Ÿ”๏ธ History
Niseko United is, without a doubt, Japan's most internationally renowned ski resort. Situated at the base of the iconic Mount Yotei (often called the "Fuji of Hokkaido"), it comprises four interconnected resorts (Grand Hirafu, Hanazono, Niseko Village, and Annupuri). Its global fame exploded in the 2000s when Australians discovered its bottomless powder, rapidly transforming the area into a highly international, Westernized hub.

โ˜€๏ธ Best days
January and February. Niseko is synonymous with constant, deep powder. If you are lucky enough to catch a "bluebird" day after a massive dump, the views of the Yotei volcano from the upper slopes are among the most stunning in the skiing world.

๐Ÿšซ Days to avoid
The peak of the Chinese New Year holidays and Australian school holidays (January). Niseko is somewhat a victim of its own success: it can be incredibly crowded, expensive, and the easily accessible powder stashes get tracked out within just a couple of hours.

๐Ÿ’ก Community tip
Niseko is world-famous for its spectacular night skiing. Massive stadium lights illuminate vast areas of the mountain, including the trees, allowing you to ride deep powder well into the night. To escape the massive crowds in Hirafu, head over to the Annupuri sector or nearby Moiwa. Be prepared for a highly international vibe where English is often spoken more than Japanese.
