About the resort
🏔️ History
This cross-border region connects Oberstdorf (Germany), famous for the Four Hills Ski Jumping Tournament, with the Austrian Kleinwalsertal valley. Together they offer a vast ski area spread across peaks like Nebelhorn, Fellhorn/Kanzelwand, and Walmendingerhorn.
☀️ Best days
Midweek in January or March. If you seek sun and fewer crowds, the Walmendingerhorn sector is usually quieter than the main Fellhorn/Kanzelwand link.
🚫 Days to avoid
Weekends, especially in good weather, as it's one of the most accessible ski destinations from southern Germany (Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg). The February school holidays are also extremely busy.
💡 Community tip
The sectors are not all interconnected by pistes, so use the Walserbus (free with your guest card) to navigate efficiently. For a scenic challenge, try the long black run from the Nebelhorn, which is the longest piste in Germany.

🚗 Access by road: To reach Oberstdorf / Kleinwalsertal by car, follow the main highways leading from the closest gateway (Innsbruck Airport). The final mountain ascent is well maintained, but expect sharp hairpins and typical mountain gradients of Germany.
⚠️ Snow chains: During the winter months, carrying snow chains in your vehicle or fitting certified winter tires is a legal requirement on the roads of Germany.

💡 Local tip: Try to arrive before 8:30 AM on powder Saturdays to avoid traffic queues on the final valley roads and secure a parking spot closest to the primary lifts.
