About the resort
🏔️ History
Park City originated as a booming silver mining town in the 1860s, but the decline of the mining industry forced a transition to tourism. In 1963, "Treasure Mountain" opened, laying the foundation for today's resort. In 2015, following Vail Resorts' acquisition, it was linked with neighboring Canyons Resort via the Quicksilver Gondola, creating the largest lift-served ski resort in the United States.
☀️ Best days
Mid-week days in mid-January (just before the Sundance Film Festival starts) feature empty slopes and great snow. Fresh snow mornings are perfect for exploring the steep bowls in the Jupiter zone.
🚫 Days to avoid
Late January, during the Sundance Film Festival, when Park City's lodging, dining, and streets are heavily congested and prices soar. Holiday weekends also bring long lift queues.
💡 Community tip
The Canyons side base area generally experiences fewer lift bottlenecks in the morning compared to the Park City base. Utilize the town's highly efficient free bus system to move between bases and avoid paid parking.

No direct transfer🚗 Driving from Salt Lake City: A fast and direct drive. Take I-80 East up through Parleys Canyon to Exit 145 (Kimball Junction) and follow UT-224 South. While Parleys Canyon is a wide highway, winter storms can make it extremely slick and cause major delays.
Local Tips
💡 Avoid driving in town: Traffic and parking in Park City can be congested and expensive. Take advantage of the free bus system; most accommodations are steps from a free stop.
