About the resort
🏔️ History
Created in 1988 following the merger of two older resorts (Peyresourde and Les Agudes), Peyragudes is a model "integrated" resort in the French Pyrenees. Its modern architecture and orientation even made it a film set, hosting the shooting of the James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997).
☀️ Best days
Any sunny day. The resort boasts a privileged east-west orientation that allows you to "ski with the sun" all day long, starting on the Agudes side in the morning and finishing on the Peyresourde side in the afternoon.
🚫 Days to avoid
Weekends during the French school holidays ("vacances scolaires" in February). The connecting pistes between the two valleys can become severely congested with beginner skiers, creating massive bottlenecks.
💡 Community tip
Peyragudes is widely recognized for having some of the best piste grooming ("damage") in the entire Pyrenees. Its wide red and blue runs are literal "highways" perfect for high-speed carving. Don't miss the ultimate relaxing experience at the Balnéa thermal baths (down in the Loudenvielle valley) after a long day of skiing.

Direct transfer available🚗 Two sides: Peyragudes has two sides accessible by road. The Peyresourde side is accessed via Lannemezan, driving down the Louron valley to the village of Loudenvielle (where you can leave your car and take the Skyvall gondola up!). The Les Agudes side is accessed via Bagnères-de-Luchon and the Peyresourde mountain pass (D618 road).
⚠️ Mountain driving: Both final access roads feature steep, winding sections. Winter tires or chains are mandatory under the Loi Montagne (Nov 1st - Mar 31st). Parking down in Loudenvielle and taking the Skyvall gondola is the safest option on snowy days.
Local Tips
💡 "Balnéa" Thermal Spa: The ultimate Peyragudes experience revolves around the Skyvall. It allows you to ski the peaks by day and, upon returning to Loudenvielle in the afternoon, walk straight into the "Balnéa" complex to soak in the French Pyrenees' premier thermal spa.
