About the resort

🏔️ History
Opened in 2007, Revelstoke Mountain Resort is one of North America's newest and most spectacular ski destinations. It boasts the greatest vertical drop in North America (1,713 meters) and sits on Mount Mackenzie in British Columbia's Selkirk Mountains. The resort combined world-class lift-serviced skiing with cat-skiing and heli-skiing operations based directly out of the same village, drawing advanced skiers globally.

☀️ Best days
Mid-week days following major Pacific storms are epic for tracking powder. February delivers the optimal temperatures to keep the snow cold across the entire massive vertical run.

🚫 Days to avoid
Holiday periods and school break weeks, when the resort experiences destination traffic. Days with low visibility make navigating the high-alpine bowls challenging.

💡 Community tip
Revelstoke is a big, steep mountain; skiing the legendary "Kill the Banker" run (a steep, leg-burning mogul course under the gondola) is a must-do for advanced skiers. Use the Stoke Chair to lap the best upper-mountain terrain.

🚗 Challenging Rogers Pass access: Revelstoke is located on the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1). Driving from Calgary requires crossing Rogers Pass (4,364 ft / 1,330 m), which is subject to extreme winter weather and frequent long closures for avalanche control. Certified winter tires are legally required.

Local Tips

💡 Monitor road reports via DriveBC: Rogers Pass closures are highly unpredictable and can last for several hours. Always check DriveBC road reports before departing Calgary or Kelowna.
