About the resort
🏔️ History
More than just a resort, the Sella Ronda is a legendary "ski safari" route that circles the massive Sella rock massif in the Italian Dolomites. It traverses four Ladin valleys (Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Arabba, and Val di Fassa), blending state-of-the-art lifts with the ancient cultural traditions of the Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto regions.
☀️ Best days
Any clear day from February onwards. Completing the entire circuit requires time and daylight. As the season progresses and the sun sets later, you minimize the risk of failing to complete the loop before the lifts close.
🚫 Days to avoid
The Christmas period or days with poor visibility and high winds. If high-altitude connection lifts close due to wind, or if extreme queues delay you, you risk getting stranded in the wrong valley, forcing you to take an astronomically expensive taxi ride back to your hotel.
💡 Community tip
You can ski it in two directions: Green (counter-clockwise, slightly flatter and easier) and Orange (clockwise, sportier and faster). Start early (before 9:30 AM). The views of the glowing pink Dolomites in the afternoon are unrivaled. If you're an advanced skier, take a detour to "La Bellunese" on the Marmolada or the long descent into Ortisei—they are must-do additions to the main loop.
