About the resort

🏔️ History
La Covatilla, located in the Sierra de Béjar (Central System) in the province of Salamanca, was inaugurated in 2001. Despite being a relatively young resort, it has become a landmark for skiers from Castilla y León, Extremadura, and Portugal, thanks to its exceptional altitude and wide, gentle slopes.

☀️ Best days
Clear days following Atlantic weather fronts. The snow at La Covatilla is renowned for being very dry and of excellent quality due to its high altitude (base at 2,000m and summit at 2,360m). The views from the top towards the Extremaduran plains and the Jerte Valley are spectacular.

🚫 Days to avoid
Stormy days or days with thick fog. Because of its exposed geography, skiing here during blizzards or low visibility can be very tough. Additionally, strong winds often force the closure of ski lifts for safety reasons.

💡 Community tip
It is the perfect place for absolute beginners because its green and blue slopes are extraordinarily wide with very consistent gradients. After skiing, a visit to Candelario or Béjar to recharge with their hearty local cuisine is a must.

Local Tips

💡 Local tip: Try to arrive before 8:30 AM on powder Saturdays to avoid traffic queues on the final valley roads and secure a parking spot closest to the primary lifts.
