About the resort
🏔️ History
Located in Andalusia, just 30 km from Granada, Sierra Nevada is Europe's southernmost ski resort. It famously hosted the 1996 World Alpine Ski Championships. It is renowned for the unique contrast of skiing while, on clear days, being able to see the Mediterranean Sea and even the coast of Africa.
☀️ Best days
March. This month usually sees the peak snow depths, the days are longer and sunnier, and it’s the perfect time to soak up the vibrant "snow and sun" spring atmosphere the resort is famous for.
🚫 Days to avoid
Any sunny weekend. Its proximity to Granada, Malaga, and the entire population of southern Spain means that the access roads and slopes can become saturated with visitors.
💡 Community tip
Sierra Nevada is famous for its afternoon lifestyle. You can be skiing at 3,000m in the morning, drop down to the Pradollano plaza for spectacular sunny après-ski, and finish the evening eating free tapas with your drinks in the city of Granada. Expert tip: head over to the "Laguna de las Yeguas" sector for the best snow quality and the most challenging runs.
