About the resort
🏔️ History
Created in 1977 by merging six villages in the Austrian Tyrol, the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental has grown into one of the largest and most modern interconnected ski areas globally. Its philosophy revolves around accessible, sustainable, and family-friendly winter sports.
☀️ Best days
Mid-January. Because the resort sits at a relatively low altitude (peaks around 1,800m - 1,900m), January provides the reliably cold temperatures needed to keep its hundreds of kilometers of immaculately groomed pistes in prime condition.
🚫 Days to avoid
Easter or late March during warm spells. Due to its lower elevation, the snow on the home runs back to the valley villages (around 800m) can degrade quickly under the strong spring sun.
💡 Community tip
This is the ultimate playground for intermediate "mile-munchers." The pistes are so seamlessly connected you can ski all day without taking the same lift twice. Try the "SkiWelt Tour" circuit for a grand overview. Also, the value for money at its 80+ rustic mountain huts is virtually unbeatable in the Alps.

⚠️ Snow chains: During the winter months, carrying snow chains in your vehicle or fitting certified winter tires is a legal requirement on the roads of Austria.
Local Tips
💡 Local tip: Try to arrive before 8:30 AM on powder Saturdays to avoid traffic queues on the final valley roads and secure a parking spot closest to the primary lifts.
