🏔️ History
Soriška Planina lies on a high alpine mountain pass between the Bohinj and Selca valleys, beginning its tourism journey in the mid-20th century. It is highly regarded for its intimate, family-friendly atmosphere and its FIS-homologated slalom courses, frequently hosting training sessions for promising Slovenian racers.
☀️ Best days
Clear, cold days following fresh snow. Sitting between 1,290m and 1,549m, it offers a pristine, high-alpine feel. The dedicated Lucija children's park is excellent for families starting out on the snow.
🚫 Days to avoid
Blustery, stormy days. Located on a mountain pass, freezing northern winds can make the windchill severe and sometimes affect the operation of the drag lifts. Also avoid mild days when the natural snow cover is soft.
💡 Community tip
Beyond alpine skiing, Soriška Planina is a fantastic hub for cross-country skiing through the Jelovica forest and night sledding. Dine at the Lajnar Guesthouse at the base for superb organic dishes sourced directly from nearby farms.
