Val di Fassa / Carezza

🏔️ History
Located in Trentino, Val di Fassa is the other great heartland of Ladin culture alongside Val Gardena. Historically isolated, it boomed as a tourist destination once linked into the massive Sella Ronda circuit. Nearby Carezza, nestled beneath the Rosengarten massif, has been famous since the 19th century as a favorite retreat for emperors and aristocrats, drawn by the magical pink sunsets (the "Enrosadira").

☀️ Best days
Clear weekdays in February. The sunset views over the jagged peaks at Carezza are arguably the best in the Dolomites, while the main Val di Fassa sectors (like Belvedere) offer premium snow conditions at higher altitudes.

🚫 Days to avoid
Late Easter and the peak Christmas holidays. As a crucial corridor for the Sella Ronda, the main valley lift connections (such as those in Campitello and Canazei) suffer from massive bottlenecks.

💡 Community tip
To beat the notorious morning lift queues in Canazei, either arrive extremely early or access the mountain from Alba di Canazei using the newer cable car up to Belvedere. If you want a romantic, stress-free day, ditch the busy Sella Ronda and head to Carezza: it offers wide, empty slopes weaving through beautiful forests.
