About the resort

🏔️ History
Val di Fiemme is famous as Italy's "cradle of Nordic skiing," but its alpine domain is equally impressive. Spanning the border between Trentino and South Tyrol (Ski Center Latemar / Obereggen), it perfectly blends South Tyrolean efficiency with warm Trentino hospitality, all unfolding beneath the dramatic jagged peaks of the Latemar massif.

☀️ Best days
Mid-January. The resort’s diverse exposures and world-class artificial snowmaking systems guarantee immaculate slopes even during dry winters. Crisp, cold mornings offer arguably the best carving conditions in the region.

🚫 Days to avoid
Sunny weekends in March. Due to its medium-to-low average altitude, the snow on the lower runs (especially heading down toward Pampeago and Predazzo) can quickly turn into heavy slush as the spring sun intensifies.

💡 Community tip
This is an absolute mecca for carving enthusiasts: the "Oberholz" piste in Obereggen is wide, steep, and exhilarating. If you enjoy night skiing, Obereggen boasts one of the finest floodlit slopes in the area. Additionally, the mountain huts here are renowned for blending ultra-modern architectural design with traditional Alpine charm.

🚗 Access by road: To reach Val di Fiemme / Obereggen by car, follow the main highways leading from the closest gateway (Treviso Airport). The final mountain ascent is well maintained, but expect sharp hairpins and typical mountain gradients of Italy.

⚠️ Snow chains: During the winter months, carrying snow chains in your vehicle or fitting certified winter tires is a legal requirement on the roads of Italy.

Local Tips

💡 Local tip: Try to arrive before 8:30 AM on powder Saturdays to avoid traffic queues on the final valley roads and secure a parking spot closest to the primary lifts.
