About the resort
🏔️ History
Val Gardena, nestled in the heart of the Italian Dolomites, is a stronghold of Ladin culture and world-famous for hosting the legendary Saslong World Cup downhill race. Alpe di Siusi, seamlessly connected to the valley, is Europe’s largest high-altitude alpine meadow, offering a breathtaking contrast of rolling, sunny slopes framed by jagged limestone peaks.
☀️ Best days
Clear, cold days in January. The freezing temperatures ensure that the resort's artificial snowmaking system—arguably the best in Europe—keeps the pistes in immaculate condition, offering perfect corduroy for early morning carving.
🚫 Days to avoid
The Christmas-to-New-Year week and the World Cup weekend (mid-December). Accommodation prices skyrocket, and the central lift connections that link to the Sella Ronda circuit can become extremely bottlenecked.
💡 Community tip
The area is vast and caters to everyone. For steep, technical skiing, hit the Ciampinoi sector and tackle the Saslong. For families, beginners, or a relaxing sunny cruise, head over to Alpe di Siusi. The resort is also famous for its culinary excellence on the mountain: book a table at Emilio Comici Hütte or Sofie Hütte (Seceda) for an unforgettable lunch.
