About the resort
🏔️ History
Inaugurated in 1974, Vallter 2000 is nestled in a natural glacial cirque in the Ripollès region of the Eastern Pyrenees. It has always been a resort deeply connected to its natural surroundings, popularizing family skiing in Catalonia due to its accessibility and protected Alpine environment.
☀️ Best days
Sunny winter days following an Eastern storm, which typically leaves very generous snow depths. It is ideal to head up early to enjoy the powder snow and the immense panoramic view that, on clear days, even allows you to spot the Mediterranean Sea and the Bay of Roses from the highest point.
🚫 Days to avoid
Days with strong winds. Because of its cirque geography, north and northwest winds can quickly strip snow from the upper slopes and force the closure of main lifts for safety reasons.
💡 Community tip
Take advantage of its orientation and altitude (the base is at 2,000 m). If the weather is good, don't miss the descent from Pic de la Dona. For families, the Leisure Park is fantastic for little ones. Additionally, it serves as an excellent starting point for ski touring.

🚗 Main access: From Barcelona or Girona, head towards Ripoll and take the C-38 road up the Ter river valley until you reach the picturesque town of Camprodon. From there, the GIV-5264 road takes you through Setcases and snakes its way up to the very base of the ski resort, which is a cul-de-sac surrounded by majestic peaks over 2,000 meters high.
⚠️ Winter driving: The final 12 kilometers from Setcases to Vallter 2000 are a true high-mountain road featuring hairpin bends and steep gradients. It is heavily exposed to harsh weather; carrying snow chains in your trunk is absolutely mandatory throughout the winter.

💡 The Mediterranean Viewpoint: Vallter 2000 is the easternmost resort in the Pyrenees. On crisp, clear days, from its highest points (2,535m), you can actually see the Bay of Roses and the Mediterranean Sea. It's a very family-friendly, cozy resort set in a spectacular alpine environment, just a two-hour drive from the Girona coast.
