Zugspitz Arena

🏔️ History
The Tiroler Zugspitz Arena is a collection of seven diverse ski areas located on the Austrian (Tyrolean) side of the towering Zugspitze mountain. While the picturesque villages maintain a deep-rooted Tyrolean charm, the region provides highly varied skiing, including access to the glacier ski area on the border with Germany.

☀️ Best days
Early February or March immediately after fresh snowfall. Because the seven distinct areas (such as Ehrwalder Alm, Lermoos, and Biberwier) face different directions, you can always hunt out sunny slopes or wind-protected powder stashes on any given day.

🚫 Days to avoid
German and Dutch half-term school holidays (Krokusvakantie). Because it lies directly on the German border, it is the first major resort reached by driving tourists from Northern Europe, resulting in extreme crowding on family-friendly slopes.

💡 Community tip
Buy the "Top Snow Card" lift pass so you can hop between all the separate ski areas depending on your mood. Head to Lermoos (Grubigstein) for steeper, more challenging runs, or Ehrwalder Alm for wide, relaxing carving and family skiing. A ride up the spectacular Tiroler Zugspitzbahn cable car to the summit is mandatory for the panoramic views.
